Garth's Last Sunday - September 18, 2011
This Sunday, Sept 18 is my last service of ministry prior to retirement. There are only a few major milestones in life – birth, graduation, marriage, birth of our children, and retirement. So, this is a once-in-a-life event for me. I hope you will take the time to attend, and help us both to say some goodbyes. We are calling it “Goodbye Garth Sunday” and I anticipate a few tears, and much laughter. The sermon is called “Tales of ministry” and I will share with you some of my most hilarious and poignant memories of ministry, as well as give you some parting faith advice. It will probably be the only time in your life when you will ever hear a minister give their last service, since ministers never really retire . . . . but since we are moving to Ecuador, this is really likely my last service! The choir is back, and has some special music planned as well. And after church, there is a luncheon for those who would like to stay. Come and make a memory.

Welcome back to Spirit West Sept 11
This Sunday, Sept 11 is our welcome back Sunday as the fall church season begins once again. Sunday school is getting rolling again, and our wonderful choir returns as well. And to celebrate, after church, for those who would like to stay, we will have a barbecue lunch (outside on the grass on the shady east side of the church, weather permitting!) I have chosen for my theme this week “forgiveness” as I share with you my second last service before retirement.
Next Sunday, Sept 18 is my last service of ministry prior to retirement. We are calling it “Goodbye Garth Sunday” and I hope many of you will be in attendance to say our goodbyes together. Join in the laughter and the tears.

A Simple Goodbye gift for Garth and Orilla – Bring a favourite recipe or two!
Orilla and I are hoping to have more time for entertaining and cooking in our retirement in Ecuador. We are hoping that folks might have a favourite recipe or two, that they could write out, put your name on, and share with us. Marian Tannahill has offered to compile them. We are thinking that it will be a good way to remember you all – every time we use your recipe, we will see your name on top, and think of you, maybe even say a little prayer! So, bring us your recipes!
Hoping to see you,
yours in faith,
Rev. Garth Bogart
