Greetings.
I’m
back! And right off, I want to thank Anne Dingwell for leading worship
last Sunday. Having talented people like Anne provides a special richness
to our being Spirit West.
Worship
This Sunday we continue to look at the experiences of the early disciples as they come to understand what it means to be a follower of what they might have called “the Way.” We will look at two readings. One focuses on the experiences of Paul. Paul has a vision and immediately decides to change course. The other reading reminds of us of a promise made by Jesus that we would have the Holy Spirit to teach us and help us. How do we decide the course that God is calling us on? How do we understand revelation? How does the Spirit teach and guide us? This is also a Communion Sunday.

The Biblical stories we are going to hear
are Acts 16: 9-15, and John 14: 23-29.
The Story for all Ages is “Let’s go to
Macedonia.”
The Sermon title is “GPS – God’s
Positioning System”
After a bit of a slow start, the Spirit
West Photo Directory is happening. Almost all of the photo sessions this
weekend are booked. But if for some reason you could not make it tomorrow
or Saturday, there will be another opportunity to have your photo taken.
Norma and Cathy Sutherland are now taking
bookings for Wednesday, May 15. Appointments are available every 15
minutes between 2:30 and 8:30. Call the church office.
The Spirit West Plant Sale
It’s a go! Now that spring appears to
have arrived it’s time to think about your gardens. Come to the Church on
Friday, May 17 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm, or on Saturday, May 18 from 9:00am to
8:00pm for bedding plants, hanging baskets, decorative planters, hanging strawberries,
tomatoes (all sizes) and bags of compost. On Saturday there will be a
barbeque to provide nourishment while you select your plants.
Messy
Church is an innovative way to be the Church in a way that appeals to all ages,
particularly young families. It is an opportunity to experience the
stories of faith in a different way and time from the typical Sunday
morning. It is an experience of community time involving story and music,
a variety of “messy” hands-on crafts and activities, a celebration and
dinner. We will be piloting “Messy Church” on Saturday, June 1st at 4:00pm. Please spread the word to
others who might enjoy this experience. On June 1st we will
share the story of Noah in a number of ways. If you want to know more
about Messy Church, check our website www.spiritwest.org
