I am going to try to be briefer that usual because attached
to this email is your copy of the Spirit West News, and it’s good reading!

Church
Picnic
The
picnic will be held outside, weather permitting (pray for good weather).
In order to cover the costs of the BBQ, we are asking for $5 per adult, or $15
for a family. Besides the food, there will be a number of activities
including face painting. Come have some FUN!
Pride
Parade
Denise Davis-Taylor, U of A chaplain from
St. Paul’s UC has created (with lots of help) Sophia,
a 35 ft long snake that needs help gliding through the Pride Parade on Saturday
(June 8th) with the United Churches. If you want to help carry her
(Sophia, not Denise) they are meeting at the muster point at 107 St and
102 Ave at 11 am Saturday morning. The parade is to start at noon moving along
102 Ave east to Winston Churchill Square. If you can't help, come watch
the parade, it's a blast.Messy Church: Pilot
The Messy Church we held last Saturday afternoon was a great success. I base this on a question asked by more than one participant, “When’s the next one?” A big thank you to those who put it together! When they have recovered, we will begin planning for the next Messy Church. Watch for the signs, and if you would like to be part of the planning, or can offer to help make it happen, call me!
Church Membership Classes
Our next meeting is Thursday, June 13th
at 7:00.
Spirit
West Community Garage Sale
The Spirit West Community Garage Sale will
be held on Saturday, June 15th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Book
tables in advance for $25.00 or donate items to the church table. All
proceeds to go to paying down the mortgage.
Donations to the Building Fund
Those of you who use envelopes or are on
PAR know that you have the option of designating a portion of your offering for
the “Building Fund.” This fund was originally established as a
capital fund to pay for the building of the Spirit West church. The building
is built. However, we are still paying for it through the mortgage.
It was decided at the last Board meeting, that as of September 1st,
2013 money designated for “Building Fund” through envelopes or PAR will be put against the
mortgage principal.
Eventually, when new envelopes are ordered and the PAR paper work
completed, “Mortgage” will be an offering option for both envelopes and
PAR. Ø Membership Class, Thursday, June 13th, 7:00 pm
Ø Community Garage Sale, Saturday, June 15
