This Sunday is our “Welcome Back Sunday” which will include
Sunday School Registration and Start-Up, followed by a Community Corn Roast
(see below)
Worship
The theme of this Sunday’s service is taken from the first of the two readings, a reading from the book of Jeremiah. God sends Jeremiah to a potter’s house and then talks to Jeremiah about the potter and the clay. God points out that if a potter is working on a piece that is just not taking the desired shape, the potter will break it down and start over. Then God points out to Jeremiah that Israel is the clay in God’s hands. Given what Jeremiah has just heard about potters and clay, is this “good news?”

Welcome Back Sunday and Community Corn Roast
This is
going to be a big Sunday at Spirit West. There will be registration for
our Sunday School, as well as something a bit new. At noon (following the
service) we will be hosting a Community Corn Roast. We are holding the
Corn Roast in cooperation with the New Ministries Development Committee of
Edmonton Presbytery (who are providing funding). It is a free event and
open to the whole community around Spirit West. Invite your neighbours to
come. Join us for hot dogs, corn on the cob and apple crisp and lots of
fun! If you wish to volunteer to shuck corn (10:00am Saturday, in the
parking lot), help set up, clean up, or bake an apple crisp call or email Edina
at brepairs@shaw.ca
or 780-481-3508 to offer your help.
Sunday
School and Call for Teachers:
We are
starting with a whole new curriculum this year, “Seasons of the Spirit,” (great
name) which should be great fun. Our classes have been growing so we need
extra help. Also our children are growing and new members are joining so
we need help. Our children are our future. Contact Dana at danielanddana@shaw.ca, 780-761-5028 or
Edina at brepairs@shaw.ca or 780-481-3508
for more information.
