Greetings,
Sunday
Worship
The gospel reading this
Sunday deals with the awkward topic of how we respond to what we perceive as
sin in others. How do we decide if we have been “sinned against.” I
think I am going with a bit of an exploration of the question, “What would
Jesus do?” And probably more importantly for us, how do we know what
Jesus would do? For an answer I will look at applying the measure of
love, as Paul outlines it in the Romans passage. I am going with
golden rule for the children. It is a communion Sunday.
The Readings are Romans 13:
8-14 and Matthew 18: 15-20. The sermon will be called “How do we know
what Jesus would do?”
Children’s
Activity Packs in Church
Although
there is no Sunday School Program during the summer, we do hope that you and
your children still find the time to join us for worship on Sundays. We
will try to make the summer Services as “all age friendly” as possible. But
as a minister and father, I know that all people (and this includes adults and
children) are different and we won’t hit the mark with everyone all the
time. For the kids who may become a bit bored or restless, we have
activity packs available (ask a greeter.) These packs can be explored either in
the sanctuary or in the lounge. I am sorry we don’t have activity packs
for the adults, maybe you can share with one of the children. In the
Activity Packs there will be colouring pages based on the Sunday’s Bible
readings. These can be taken home.
Funeral for John Moisey
The Funeral
for John is this Saturday, Sept 6 at 10:00 am in the Chapel at the Westlawn
Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Rd. Keep Linda, Melissa and all of John’s
family in your prayers.
Request
for a ride to Church
One of our
long time and dedicated members is currently experiencing mobility issues which
prevent her from getting to church on her own. I am not going to name her
in this email, but will say that she lives just north of West Edmonton Mall
near 95th Ave and 170th St. If you feel that
you could offer her (and her wheelchair) a ride to church some Sundays, please
call the church office.
